And travelled many times across the Scrivener Dam on my way to school from Aranda to Deakin. We have a vacation home at a lake here in Virginia. I remember when it was created in the 1960s but wasn't at any ceremony since it was many hours away and I'm sure no one in my family even cared. I always look for old photos of the lake filling up, dam construction, etc. Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17863357756727783017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5753773086042054845.post-66580796878906197782014-03-31T03:56:51.772-07:002014-03-31T03:56:51.772-07:00Great to learn about the history of the lake and C...Great to learn about the history of the lake and Canberra - I love going to Canberra and walking around all the monumental buildings - almost all with views of the lake.Jackie van Bergenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14108390437411946657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5753773086042054845.post-7382385498007743262014-03-29T18:58:58.531-07:002014-03-29T18:58:58.531-07:00Well done Jo. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't remember its creation yet 1960 was in the early days of television here so it surely would have been on the TV news. There little buildings on a man made wharf where I scoot down for lunch in the summer months. Love the picture of the two little cousins, they seem to have gotten along great.<br />Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06015301472659256675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5753773086042054845.post-32753942188116718152014-03-28T09:32:51.594-07:002014-03-28T09:32:51.594-07:00A lake in the middle of a city can be a lovely thi...A lake in the middle of a city can be a lovely thing. When I worked in Oakland, CA, our office bldg. was only 2 blocks away from Lake Merritt and I used to walk down there and sit on the grass eating my lunch & watching all the ducks - who, of course, came begging. They were cute, but rather brazen!La Nightingailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04769079547153094005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5753773086042054845.post-38260925787065342352014-03-28T06:17:00.308-07:002014-03-28T06:17:00.308-07:00Interesting post.
